Banking Access for a Digital Asset Exchange

Challenge

A regulated digital asset exchange operating across three jurisdictions had been declined by eleven banks over an eighteen-month period. Existing banking relationships were at risk of termination due to sector-wide de-risking by their incumbent provider.

Approach

Fluens conducted a full treasury audit and restructured the client's entity architecture to separate regulated and unregulated revenue streams. We prepared a comprehensive KYC/KYB dossier and made targeted introductions to three specialist banking partners with established digital asset frameworks.

Outcome

Two banking relationships established within fourteen weeks. Primary settlement account operational within six weeks of first introduction. Merchant acquiring facility secured with a specialist acquirer for card-funded purchases.

Treasury Restructure for an International Holding Group

Challenge

A mid-market holding group with operating subsidiaries in five countries had an ad hoc banking structure that had grown organically over a decade. Cash was trapped in operating entities, intercompany lending was undocumented, and the group had no visibility over its aggregate liquidity position.

Approach

Fluens mapped the existing structure and designed a centralised treasury function using a notional cash pooling arrangement. We introduced the group to a Tier-1 corporate bank with a dedicated international corporate team and supported the negotiation of a group banking mandate.

Outcome

Group banking mandate signed with a Tier-1 bank within four months. Notional cash pool operational across four entities. Estimated annual interest saving of £340,000 through elimination of unnecessary external borrowing against trapped cash.

Dedicated MID Provisioning for a High-Volume Subscription Business

Challenge

A high-volume subscription e-commerce business processing over €4M per month had been placed on a shared MID by its incumbent acquirer following a chargeback spike during a promotional campaign. The shared MID arrangement was resulting in settlement delays of up to seven days and reserve requirements of 15%, materially impacting working capital.

Approach

Fluens conducted a transactional risk audit and identified that the chargeback spike was attributable to a single promotional SKU rather than a systemic issue. We prepared a risk narrative and introduced the client to two specialist acquirers with dedicated MID programmes for subscription businesses. We managed the application process and negotiated reserve and settlement terms on the client's behalf.

Outcome

Dedicated MID secured with a specialist acquirer within five weeks. Settlement cycle reduced from seven days to two days. Reserve requirement negotiated down to 5% with a six-month release schedule. The client's chargeback ratio returned to below 0.4% within two billing cycles following the SKU remediation.

PSP Diversification for a Web3 Gaming Platform

Challenge

A Web3 gaming platform accepting card payments for in-game asset purchases was operating on a single PSP relationship that had been flagged for review by the acquirer's risk team. The platform had no contingency payment infrastructure and faced the prospect of a complete suspension of card acceptance at short notice.

Approach

Fluens assessed the platform's transaction profile and identified two specialist acquirers with established Web3 and gaming sector frameworks. We prepared a comprehensive merchant application package including a detailed product description, risk controls documentation, and a chargeback management protocol. We also introduced the client to an Open Banking A2A provider as a non-card payment alternative to reduce card volume dependency.

Outcome

Primary contingency PSP relationship live within four weeks. Open Banking A2A integration completed within six weeks, reducing card volume by approximately 22%. The original PSP relationship was retained following a successful risk review, giving the client a three-provider payment stack.
